Roger, a young foster child who loves baseball, dreams of two things: having a real family and seeing the struggling California Angels win the pennant. When his father jokingly says they will be a family again when the Angels win, Roger takes it seriously and prays for a miracle.
Soon, Roger begins to see something no one else can: angels helping the team on the field. Guided by their mysterious leader Al, the heavenly helpers give the Angels a boost as the team begins an incredible turnaround season.
