2026 Uptown Studio Spring & Summer Auditions For The Kids and Teen Shows
All four productions will be AUDITION ONLY this year.
(Last year, the Kids Summer Show was sign-up only—this year it requires an audition.)

There will be two audition dates this year:
Sunday, February 1 — 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Required for anyone auditioning for a Spring show
- Also for performers who are auditioning for both Spring and Summer shows
- Important: If you are auditioning for a Spring show, you must attend this day — Spring callbacks take place before the second audition day.

Step into a world of pure imagination!
Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. brings the delicious adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory to life in a whimsical, family-friendly musical packed with magic, mischief, and music. Featuring beloved songs from the classic 1971 film—alongside delightful new tunes—this scrumdidilyumptious production promises a treat for audiences of all ages.
Follow the mysterious candy maker Willy Wonka as he launches a worldwide contest: five lucky golden ticket winners will earn a once-in-a-lifetime tour of his legendary chocolate factory. Among the winners is kind-hearted Charlie Bucket, who embarks on an unforgettable adventure with his Grandpa Joe. Inside the factory, the children encounter unforgettable rooms, surprising lessons, and the always-watchful Oompa-Loompas—reminding everyone that following the rules just might save the day.

- Must be age appropriate and show your personality.

An accompanist will be provided. Please bring:

- Make sure your audition form has been submitted and includes all conflicts. You will not be allowed to audition without submitting the form first, and no additional conflicts will be accepted after auditions.

Willy Wonka Jr. Character Breakdown
Willy Wonka is an enigmatic character; at once mysterious and mischievous but also charismatic.
Gender: Any

Charlie Bucket is the emotional heart and soul of the musical.
Grandpa Joe is the grandfather we all wish we had when we were Charlie’s age. He is caring, patient, sweet, and always reminds Charlie to look on the bright side.
Augustus is the overachieving eater. Augustus sings “I Eat More!” along with his mother and Phineous Trout.
For this adaptation Mike is not just a TV junky. He is also addicted to video games, the Internet and any other mindnumbing technological device. Mike is bratty, loud and obnoxious. He does not understand the word “no.” Mike and Ms. Teavee sing “I See It All On TV”.
Veruca is wealthy, class-conscious, and completely spoiled. She is often portrayed with a high British accent. Veruca sings “I Want It Now”.
Gum chewer extraordinaire, Violet hails from Snellville, Georgia and is a bluecollar, middle class brat. She sings “Chew It” along with Willy Wonka.
Mr. Bucket performs the number “Think Positive” with Charlie.
Mrs. Bucket sings “Cheer Up, Charlie” with Mr. Bucket and Grandpa Joe.
Phineous is the reporter who announces the winners of the Golden Ticket contest throughout the show. The role requires some singing.
Mrs. Gloop is Augustus’ mother who has overindulged her son with food. She accompanies Augustus on the tour of the factory, and sings “I Eat More!”.
Ms. Teavee is a take on all television moms of the distant past. She’s perfectly put together and a bit vacant. She sings “I See It All On TV”.
Mr. Salt’s solution to most problems is to buy his way out. He is upper class, and usually portrayed with a high British accent.
Mrs. Beauregard is a teacher of geography and has invested a great deal of hard-earned money on therapy for her gum-chewing daughter, with less than stellar results.

James is Charlie’s friend from school. He has a few lines and sings the introduction of “The Candy Man” along with Matilda and Charlie.
Matilda is also a schoolmate of Charlie’s, but she’s a bit of bully. Matilda has a few lines and sings the introduction of “The Candy Man” along with James and Charlie.

TEEN SPRING SHOW
THE PROM
Get ready for a prom night like no other—full of heart, humor, and high-energy fun!

The Prom Character Breakdown
A cheerleader and top student. Secretly Emma’s girlfriend. Faces constant pressure from her mother and friends.
The straitlaced school principal. An ally to Emma and a long-time fan of Dee Dee.
Alyssa’s intimidating, conservative, but ultimately loving mother. The head of the PTA.
Other students at school who bully (but eventually learn to accept) Emma.
Flamboyant Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Longs to give Emma the prom he was unable to have as a teen.
Broadway diva. A huge ego to match her huge talent. Hilariously self-involved but yearns to do something good for someone other than herself.
Pretentious Juilliard graduate recently cast in the non-Equity tour of Godspell. Loves to hear himself speak.

KIDS SUMMER SHOW
MOANA JR.
Disney’s Moana JR. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR. features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”
This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. Moana Jr. Character Breakdown
The vibrant, tenacious, and optimistic daughter of Motunui’s chief. She struggles to reconcile her father’s plans for her to take over as the village chief with her own desires to voyage beyond the reef. Ultimately, Moana proves a compassionate and capable leader.
A demigod and master wayfinder with charisma to spare and a reputation of being a trickster. Despite his hard exterior, Maui becomes a wonderful friend and mentor to Moana throughout their journey.
Chief Ancestors (1-3) are the three ancient leaders of Motunui. They guide Moana on her quest and narrate her story through speaking and singing solos.
Moana’s wise grandmother and the mother of Chief Tui. She is the village storyteller known for being eccentric and dancing to the beat of her own drum.

LEGALLY BLONDE
A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances – this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!
Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

Auditions for Pinkalicious Are Closed
Pinkalicious The Musical – Auditions are closed
This is the tale of Pinkalicious, who can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe–a dream come true for this pink-loving enthusiast. Alas Pinkalicious needs a way out of her pink predicament, and joined by her family they find unity and appreciation in the quirks that define us all.

Uptown Singers, Grades 6-12 – Auditions are closed
The Uptown Singers gives your performer pre-professional musical theatre training, teaching soloists to listen to the lyrics of a song as well as themselves, all while telling a story. The Uptown Singers will create a cabaret-style show of solos, duets and group numbers which is then performed at multiple area locations and events. Performers continue to develop the skill to carry a harmony line, perform a solo of professional quality and dance.
It is recommended that performers take The Singing Artist, or Glee Week camp at least once before auditioning for Uptown! Singers. Admission is by audition only.
To Audition: Performers need to submit a video of a song which highlights their vocal strength and ability to interpret and perform a song.
