This holiday season, internationally acclaimed Irish violinist Gregory Harrington and Emerald Strings invite you on A Winter Journey, an intimate evening of music celebrating the beauty, warmth and wonder of the season.
Moving from the stillness of a winter’s night to the joy of Christmas, the warmth of coming home and the promise of a new year, Harrington weaves together reimagined holiday classics, Irish and American influences, contemporary works and original music, brought to life through Emerald Strings’ signature storytelling and virtuosic performance.
The journey moves from the haunting beauty of The Wexford Carol and O Come, O Come Emmanuel to the drama of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor and a virtuosic reimagining of Carol of the Bells / God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen. Contemporary favorites including Fairytale of New York and Glen Hansard’s Falling Slowly sit alongside new music written especially for the production. At the heart of the evening are two original works by Harrington, The First Snow and The Light We Keep, inspired by the wonder of winter, the warmth of celebrating with those we love and the memories of those who remain part of us even when they are no longer here.
