The Jazz Cocktail “Hour”

About the Jazz Cocktail “Hour”

Great jazz for everyone! The evening begins with drinks or a signature cocktail, and small bites. Concerts are held on the second floor, The Univest Room, of  the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center. This intimate room allows the audience to experience the creative, improvisational form of jazz, up close and personal. Sara Michaels, jazz and blues vocalist and local resident, gives a brief introduction to connect the artist with the audience.

The Paul Giess Group

with vocalist V. Shayne Frederick

Thursday, November 21, 2019 6:30pm

Back by popular demand, vocalist V. Shayne Frederick and The Paul Giess Quintet combine forces to present an energetic, toe-tapping experience.

Both regularly play in notable jazz venues in Philly and beyond. Trumpeter and band leader Paul Giess’s musical vocabulary includes the spiritual sounds of New Orleans Jazz. He brings the groove while Frederick can be counted on for his engaging tone and personality. Broad Street Review describes him as “one of the region’s busiest and best jazz singers.” His singular voice, with its dulcet texture and substantial range, has a classic appeal with a bright, innovative flair.

TICKETS
