Singing, Dancing, Acting, and Fun! That’s what this high-energy camp is all about. Performers work with Professional Musical Directors and Singer/Actor/Directors to discover healthy vocal techniques, master basic dance steps, and learn to bring their personalities to the stage.
Broadway Kiddos concludes with a performance on Friday at 12:00 PM for the morning sessions and 4:30 PM for the afternoon sessions at the Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center. Family and friends are invited to attend free of charge.
Storybook Theatre
June 15-19
Storybook Theatre performers experience the joy of imaginative play through theater games, fairy tales, music, and art. These lively campers create a show from top to bottom, bringing to light each performer’s unique personality and voice. Our highly skilled teachers offer assistance to campers as narrators whenever necessary, allowing performers the freedom to create at their developmental stage rather than worry about memorizing lines. Every week, performers bring to life a different children’s story.

A Professional Actor/Director and College Intern will journey with performers through daily rehearsals, theatre games, and a performance of a One Act play. Experience what thousands of professional performers do every summer during “Summer Stock.” “Summer Stock” is the creation of a theatrical production in one week (or two) during the summer while having fun with friends! Performers learn blocking, lines and motivation with the help and support of our directors to create a One Act Play. As usual, all roles will be of comparable size, giving every performer their time to shine in the spotlight.

Join us this summer and perform in our Main Stage Kids Production of Moana JR! Professional technicians will create the atmosphere while you create music, choreography, drama, and comedy on stage! Everyone will begin learning music, lines, blocking, choreography, and motivation with the help and support of our Director, Musical Director, and Choreographer. Daily rehearsals and theatre games help develop every performer’s confidence to bring their ideas and voice to the stage.

Triple Threat
July 13-24
2 Week Camp
Discover or strengthen all the skills an actor needs this summer. For two weeks, your performer will learn from professionals the skills they need to become a stronger actor. This two-week camp focuses on the “triple threat” skills of Singing, Dancing, and Acting, but we do it one better by adding Improvisation. Our Triple Threat camp is a ”must-have” for all musical theater performers, actors wanting to add more skills to their talents, or anyone wanting to have a ton of fun this summer.

Glee Week

A Professional Actor/Director, Musical Director, Choreographer, and Voice Coach will lead 18 performers through the rehearsals and performance of a cabaret. Join us for one fun and skill-packed week of Musical Theater. All performers will perform in a solo and two group numbers in the Cabaret. Every student will receive private voice lessons along with performance coaching for their solo. Performers will quickly discover the difference between acting in a chorus and acting as a soloist. In addition, performers develop the skills to make focus changes, base changes, and gestures, all while connecting with their interpretation of the song.

A Professional Teaching Artist will lead campers on a joyful journey where imagination takes center stage. Through theatre games, movement, and playful storytelling activities, students will create brand-new characters inspired by their own ideas and the world around them. Along the way, campers will laugh, collaborate, and experiment as they discover how a simple spark of imagination can grow into something truly magical.
With guidance and encouragement, students will build confidence while exploring acting fundamentals, teamwork, and creative expression. As the week progresses, ideas turn into scenes, scenes turn into a play, and campers experience the excitement of bringing an original story to life.

All performers will need to help with strike on Aug 1st after the closing show. Following strike will be a cast party.
Backstage Tech Camp
June 15-19 and either July 6-10 or July 27-August 1
A Professional Technical Director and experienced theatre educators will guide students through a hands-on introduction to the exciting world of technical theatre. Throughout the week, students will explore practical skills used both onstage and behind the scenes, including lighting, sound, set construction, props, costumes, theatre etiquette, and theatre history. With a wide variety of classes and interactive workshops, students will leave camp with a strong foundation in technical theatre and backstage operations.
In addition to daily instruction and skill-building, students will apply what they’ve learned by serving as part of the running crew for one of Uptown Studio’s Summer productions. Students will be evenly divided between supporting the Kids Show and the Teen Show, gaining real-world experience working in a live performance environment.

Performance & Tech Week Commitments
Kids Show (Moana JR.) Tech Week: July 6–10

Parents, please note the 6:30 PM performance on Friday. All backstage technical theatre students must be available for all performances and strike on July 10, which will run until approximately 8:30 PM.
Teen Show (Legally Blonde The Musical) Tech Week: July 27–August 1
Performances: July 30, July 31, & August 1
Parents, please note the 7:00 PM performances on Thursday and Friday, and the 1:00 PM performance on Saturday. All backstage technical theatre students must be available for all performances and strike after the final show on August 1st. Following strike, students are invited to attend a cast & crew celebration.
Classes: If you withdraw from a class up to two weeks before the start date, you will receive a credit for the full registration amount, minus a $20 processing fee. This credit can be applied to a future Uptown Studio class or camp. No credits or refunds will be issued after this period. Credits are valid only for Uptown Studio classes and camps and cannot be used for performance tickets at Uptown.
Summer Camps: If you withdraw before May 15, you will receive a credit for the full registration amount, minus a $50 processing fee, to be applied to a future Uptown Studio class or camp. After May 15, no credits or refunds will be issued. Credits are valid only for Uptown Studio classes and camps and cannot be used for performance tickets at Uptown.
Credits are good for up to one year from date of issue.
Returned Checks: A $45 fee will apply to any returned checks.
Please note: Uptown Studio does not issue refunds. Credits towards future classes or camps are the only form of compensation offered.
