Job Title: Director of Membership and Individual Giving

Status: Part-Time, Hourly (Flexible schedule, 15–20 hours/week)
Location: Hybrid – On-site in West Chester, PA with some remote flexibility
Compensation: $25–$38/hour, commensurate with experience (see tiers below)

Position Summary

Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center seeks a strategic and relationship-driven Director of Membership and Individual Giving to lead efforts in expanding individual donor engagement and membership growth. This new position will play a key role in building strong community connections, cultivating individual giving, improving and managing the membership program, and supporting overall development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Giving & Donor Development

  • Identify, research, and cultivate individual donors at all giving levels
  • Manage donor correspondence, including appeals and acknowledgments
  • Maintain and update CRM with donor activity and history
  • Execute donor stewardship strategies and support major gift efforts

Membership Program Leadership

  • Manage and grow the membership program
  • Develop and implement acquisition and retention strategies
  • Coordinate exclusive membership events, benefits, and communications
  • Analyze membership trends and generate performance reports

Fundraising Campaigns

  • Support organization-wide fundraising campaigns (e.g., GivingTuesday, year-end appeals, gala, education benefit, etc.)
  • Track campaign results and prepare internal reports

Events & Community Engagement

  • Lead planning and execution of donor/member events and receptions
  • Serve as an Uptown ambassador at performances and community events
  • Manage event follow-up and ensure accurate donor data updates

Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Experience with donor relations, membership programs, and fundraising campaigns
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
  • Prior experience in nonprofit development or arts administration preferred

Compensation Tiers

Tier Hourly Rate Experience & Qualifications
Tier 1: Early Career $25–$27/hour 1–2 years of nonprofit, arts admin, or fundraising experience; strong writing skills and eagerness to grow
Tier 2: Mid-Level $28–$32/hour 3–5 years of experience with donor engagement, membership development, and fundraising
Tier 3: Senior-Level $33–$38/hour 5+ years of development experience with a strong record in donor cultivation, campaign success, and strategic planning
