Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Uptown With a small staff behind the scenes, we rely on a dedicated group of volunteers to help bring each performance to life. In fact, over 100 volunteers contributed more than 2,000 hours in 2018 alone!

Most volunteer opportunities happen during performances—greeting guests, ushering, helping with setup and cleanup—but we also need support for projects like mailings, distributing marketing materials, and spreading the word in the community.

Volunteering at Uptown is more than just lending a hand—it’s about building friendships, being part of something exciting, and helping the arts thrive in West Chester.

We can’t say enough about how much a theater like Uptown! relies on its cadre of volunteers. With a very small staff, the shows literally wouldn’t go on without the support of our volunteers. Over 100 volunteers logged a total of 2000+ hours in 2018. The majority of volunteer support happens during the ‘night of a show’ such as set-up, greeting patrons, ushering, and clean-up. At times, we call on volunteers for projects such as bulk mailings, distributing marketing materials around the community, and serving as good-will ambassadors. Relationships and friendships are built as our volunteers contribute to make the theater a success!
