Better Than Bacon began with a group of comedy lovers who met in a local improv class and quickly bonded over their shared sense of humor. After taking every class available in the area, they decided to keep the laughs going by forming their own troupe. In 2010, with the addition of a director and a few more performers, Better Than Bacon was officially born. The group performed their first professional show in 2011 and has been entertaining audiences ever since—celebrating their anniversary each June.
Each Better Than Bacon performance is completely improvised and driven by audience suggestions, ensuring a one-of-a-kind comedy experience every time. The troupe includes 13 talented members from across the southeastern Philly suburbs—Malvern, Exton, West Chester, Kennett Square, Phoenixville, Media, Swarthmore, and Wilmington, DE—bringing together backgrounds in improv, acting, stand-up, and music. That blend of experience fuels the group’s dynamic, high-energy shows and makes Better Than Bacon a staple of the local comedy scene.
